Vinted Members Voice Frustration Regarding Sizing Updates

Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.

This online marketplace has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change.

Digital Channels Backlash

Many shoppers and sellers are posting online claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.

Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with similar services.

The platform has recommended to review their products and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.

Measurement Approach Updates

Previously, the sizes had both one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

User Experiences

One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

A different member, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.

Required Changes

A different user, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she explained.

Marketplace Information

The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.

It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options following member complaints.
